Conscious Sedation

Dr. Edwards shows patient example procedure to be preformed while under conscious sedation at Wenatchee Dental - The practice of Dr. Kelly, Dr. Edwards and Dr. Webb.

Many of us have schedules that are stretched to the max. Do you have dentistry you would like to complete but feel you don't have the time? Conscious Sedations allows for longer appointments completing several quadrants of dentistry in one relaxing visit.

Ninety million people in the U.S. don't see a dentist because of fear. Dental fear is a hidden phobia — the monster in the closet that no one wants to talk about. Many people are embarrassed to admit their fears and many more are afraid to confront them. There is a simple solution. Conscious sedation is offered at Wenatchee Dental which allows the patient to address all of their dental problems in a relaxing anxiety-free environment. Conscious sedation allows the patient to get a tremendous amount of dentistry done in one visit.  Hours seem like minutes and there is less post-operative pain. The medications that are used have amnesiac properties which means that many patients remember little or nothing about their dental treatment. The process is actually very simple, predictable, and safe!  After a careful review of the patients medical history Dr. Kelly or Edwards will choose the appropriate medications. A companion will drive the patient to the appointment.  When the treatment is complete and the patient is ready to go home, their companion drives them home and stays with them until they are fully recovered.  Whether the patient requires a single filling or are looking to have their entire smile restored, Conscious sedation can help patients achieve optimum dental health in the most comfortable way possible.

How can you help me overcome my dental fears?

We have nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help you relax, along with headphones for music. Dr. Edwards and Dr. Kelly can prescribe you anti-anxiety medication (ie. Valium) to lessen your fear and calm your nerves. We enjoy/invite the challenge of helping patients overcome their dental fears, so they can experience modern, pain-free dentistry.

Conscious Sedation Patient Testimonies:

"For one that has had a fear, for years, of even having my teeth cleaned, I cowered at the thought of going back to the dentist for more dental procedures.  However, I found to my very pleasant surprise that my most recent experience proved to be the best for relieving fear.  I had to have a crown replaced along with a root canal, but with conscious sedation, I was relaxed, had no pain or discomfort.  Most importantly and best of all, this was accomplished in just one appointment!  I was very pleased with Dr. Kelly and his staff."

"Just thinking about going to the dentist I would break out in a cold sweat. That is until I started going to Dr. Kelly. I have been a patient of Dr. Kelly’s since 1993, and I can honestly say that not once have I experienced pain during a procedure, including root canals and crowns. Dr. Kelly has a unique technique for giving shots, and because of his expertise, there is no pain. Dr. Kelly is not only a skilled dentist, he truly cares about his patients. I’ll never forget the time I had a difficult procedure done and Dr. Kelly had to go out of town immediately afterward. The next day he called me long distance to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. That is awesome dental care!”

“Before I started going to Dr. Kelly’s office, going to the dentist filled me with apprehension, anxiety, and dread. Dr. Kelly and his staff really put me at ease and I can relax and listen to soothing music or watch my favorite TV station while having dental work done. His modern pain management techniques and comfortable atmosphere have attributed to the best dental experiences I’ve ever had.”
